Harmonious Flavours of Southwest China
JIJA by Vicky Lau celebrates the warmth, energy, and hospitality of Southwest China. Named after a local term for cheerful chatter “zi4 zi1 zaa4 zaa4 吱吱喳喳”. JIJA is built around the joy of connection—bringing people together over food, tea, and conversation.
JIJA’s is inspired by the rustic and lively cooking traditions of Yunnan and Guizhou. Stimulated by her travels through Southwest China, cheffe Vicky Lau offers a fresh take on regional dishes that balance intensity with finesse. The flavours are vibrant, and comforting—sour, spicy, and aromatic—reflecting the character and spirit of the region.
Thirty30 worked closely with cheffe Vicky and longstanding client, Leading Nation, to develop a creative concept, brand and visual identity to complement the lively, modern bistro atmosphere of the space. Design elements reference Southwest China’s proud heritage in tapestry making and craftsmanship.
